Oscar is a shallow lake (25 feet max) with many sand bars, reefs and sunken islands, to the delight of the fish. Much of he lake is undeveloped with heavily wooded shoreline giving the lake a feeling of "up-north-seclusion" while being only 10 minutes from Alexandria and I-94. It is one of 160 lakes in the state known to have Eurasian water milfoil, an exotic plant species.
